Vanity Phone Numbers have nothing to do with ego … they have everything to do with memorability. I had fun last week making a jingle presentation to a Roofing company in Kansas. 100% of this clients leads come in via the telephone but there was nothing special or memorable about his phone number.
I suggested we write down some four letter key words that associate his product line. ROOF, HOME, RAIN, SNOW, HAIL etc. I told the client to dial his exchange and then type in ROOF and let’s see what happens. There were only two options 1) Someone will answer the phone or 2) The phone company will have a recording that the number we dialed was not assigned and if we’d like the number, it’s up for grabs.
Sure enough … 555-ROOF was available and the next phone call we made was to the phone company. The client is now the proud owner of a perfect phone number for a local roofing company … 555-ROOF.
