Welcome to AmericanMusicConcepts.com: Throw Back Thursday’s Bonus Jingle – 03/22/2018

Each Thursday we will take a trip down memory lane and delve into our fantastic catalog of jingles to share with you some of the great experiences we’ve had hand crafting these jingles through the years.

The Jingle: Surf Ballroom

The Story: Don McLean has been in the news recently. Don is an American singer and songwriter who wrote the classic song, American Pie in 1971.

The song is about the Day The Music Died on February 3, 1959 (My first Birthday.) Sadly, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson perished that day in a plane crash after performing at the Surf Ballroom in Mason City, Iowa.

I met the owners of the Surf Ballroom many years ago. Great guys, gave me a tour including Buddy Holly’s dressing room, backstage area, and the wall payphone Buddy used to call for a taxi to the Mason City Airport.

The Surf Ballroom looks like it did the Day The Music Died. It looks like a small 1950’s roller skating rink and you feel like you are back in time to the Golden Age Of Rock N’ Roll.

Best part, the Surf Ballroom bought a jingle from me that day.

Check it out!
